My brother was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2014. When I looked up information about my brother’s disease I was very devastated to find out that this disease is chronic (requires life long treatment) and can possibly develop into colon cancer.
Since I lost my father with colon cancer when I was 15 years old, my fear of losing my brother made me feel an urgency to understand this disease.
That’s how I started my website “optimal intestinal health” to share what I’ve learned as a registered holistic nutritionist. I made this site bilingual, so that my brother in Japan can understand and also it can be helpful for my sister- in- law, Cathy, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.
Canadians may have more awareness about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, since there is a large number of people affected with these illnesses. I am excited to be a supporter of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada with the hope for remarkable research. Now, I have tools to help not only people affected by these conditions but also those in similar circumstances as myself, who are committed to supporting loved ones.
Together we can Make it stop! For life!
I will be participating in this Gutsy Walk 2016 on June 5. Please join us and donate for further research.
